"Solstice has been my “home” for over 4 years, and I feel very fortunate to be here. I know that the young women at the front desk are asking me how I am today because they genuinely care about me and take a personal interest in my life. In this day and age, to be able to interact with staff who go out of their way to make me feel that I belong has been a gift. We have recently had a change in administration, and I have observed her over the last few months. Her style is one I admire. She listens. She takes in the residents’ concerns, and systematically and with a “hands-on approach,” she is leading her team through progressive change to better our community. I am always amazed when fellow residents complain that Jessica is in the kitchen. She is a teacher/trainer for new kitchen staff. She demonstrates, she coaches, and she encourages these young staff to the best. The community is better for her approach, and in turn as a resident I benefit. Change is hard for us older folks but necessary for Solstice to continue to grow as a thriving community. How my neighbors have adapted to change and the “winding path” we must take to grow has been the most challenging for me personally. Change is not for everyone. If you love the outdoors and nature, Solstice is amazing. Sitting next to Point Defiance Park, I have loved sharing space with the wildlife. Lots of space to walk and sit on beautiful grounds. There are many things to do every day, if you so choose. The Activity Director is always open to suggestions. If you don’t see anything you enjoy, then work with the Activity Director to help start it. The new Chef is delightful and tries to accommodate as she is able. New ideas and recipes are coming out weekly! The staff is so approachable and really do give you the feeling that they want you to feel at home and have your needs met. In the midst of change, Solstice provides a safe and secure home where there are conversations and activities available to help me be the best me. I am grateful and feel blessed that I chose Solstice."

"When I was growing up, I always said I was gonna move far away from home in Florida. When I was an adult after marrying a soldier and time, I ended up here in Tacoma, Washington. As I got older and needed senior living, I found Solstice. I have been here for a year, and I am so impressed with the beautiful building and nature around. The staff here at Solstice are so kind and compassionate to me; it’s very special. I have been treated with respect and kindness since I arrived here. This is a pleasant and quiet environment, exceedingly comfortable and accommodating. I like that the staff make sure that all of the residents are comfortable and happy. They also make sure that all residents respect each other and their privacy. The meals here are nutritious, and I enjoy them daily with many different options. Oh, I love that I get housekeeping every week. I’m so glad I found Solstice."
